ENHANCED UFLPA ENFORCEMENT HIGHLIGHTS THE CRITICAL NEED FOR ETHICAL SOURCING
The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) is a significant U.S. law aimed at combating forced labor practices in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR).
Since its inception, CBP has detained over 9,000 shipments valued at more than $3.5 billion, denying entry to nearly half, highlighting the UFLPA’s enforcement impact.
For fiscal year 2024, CBP’s funding is $19.934 billion—an increase of $3.257 billion from the previous year. Additionally, CBP is enhancing isotopic testing at three laboratories to conduct more tests and obtain results more rapidly
These funding increases and enhanced capabilities are part of the U.S. government’s efforts to intensify UFLPA enforcement
